Sovan: Global Peace Services is only one of many organizations devoted to making the world a better place that will sorely miss your presence. Your memory will be a lasting blessing.

Lok Om was a very gentle sweet man. Everywhere he went, he always had a smile. anyone knew him would say the same. Full of love, life, always wanted to help our community and left his mark! He was so welcoming to everyone from all walks of life. It’s very sad to see he’s no longer here with us today. But I know he’s living now in paradise in heaven. every time khmer New Years at the temple, he’d always recommend and have my parents band to play there, which he loved a lot. My parents are also so very sad to hear the news of such a fine man, gone too soon. Live in paradise Lok Om… till we…

As fellow Buddhist and a representative of Wat Lao Buddhavong, I met Dr. Soman Tun during many years of planning and celebrating Vesak (through the IBC) and other Buddhist events in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Sovan was a kind, full of live, and giving man. I am saddened to learn of the sad news. His passing reminds us that although very dear to us, all things are impermanent. He will be missed. May he find Eternal Peace in his journey.

I heard of the sad news on Facebook that bang Sovan had left this world. Bang Bean and family, I always thought about bang Sovan and all of you and the good times we we were at the University of Tennessee. I still remember very clearly the time when I arrived at UT as a freshman and band Sovann was doing his PhD. I still have the photos of us at Tennessee. Bang Sovan was such a kind human being with full of compassion. He treated me like his little brother. I will love him forever. May he rest in peace.
